'Hi-Tech Park will create digital entrepreneurs by developing an innovation ecos'

Bangladesh High Tech Park Authority will create digital entrepreneurs by developing an innovation ecosystem in the country, said NM Ziaul Alam, senior secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology. As a result, the tendency of the younger generation to look for jobs will be reduced and they will be more focused on job creation themselves, he said.

The senior secretary made these remarks while addressing a virtual meeting as the chief guest organized on Wednesday (August 4) on the occasion of allocation of spaces for the start-up organisation and their mentoring at Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director Bikarna Kumar Ghosh in his PowerPoint presentation at the meeting highlighted the various opportunities and facilities provided to the start-up companies. Presiding over the program, the Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director said, "Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is setting up 39 Hi-tech parks/ software technology Parks across the country with the aim of creating a proper digital innovation ecosystem to harness the immense potential of the ICT sector in the global market for the country's economic development." As per the directive from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, activities have been taken to set up Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center in every district of the country.

Three hi-tech parks/software technology parks and 2 IT training and incubation centres have already been set up in the country for investors as well as startups. So far, incubation has been provided to 200 startups organizations from these zones. At the same time, more than 1,000 organizations have been assisted in establishing sustainable businesses by providing 'mentoring', he added.

In addition, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is working to ensure technology-based employment by bringing universities under a high-tech ecosystem through the launch of 'Mentor Development Camp' (MDC) in partnership with various industries and academics in the ICT sector, the managing director further added.   Partha Pratim Dev, executive director, Bangladesh Computer Council and ANM Shafiqul Islam, director, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority were present at the program as special guests.
