Cumilla's Daudkandi model thana police arrested two alleged drug peddlers with 100 kilograms of ganja in the toll plaza area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the upazila on Wednesday morning. The arrestees were identified as Nurey Alam (25), son of Ekhlas Miah of Puran Chowara village under Sadar Dakshin upazila of Cumilla and Noor Hossain (24), son of Abul Hashem of Sushad village under Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur.  

On a tip-off, a team of Daudkandi model thana police led by SI Harisul Haque conducted a drive in the toll plaza area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway and arrested them with a huge quantity of hemp after searching a Dhaka-bound jeep car (Dhaka Metro Gha-15-2813). The jeep car was also seized, said model thana ASI Rozina Akter.         

Senior assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Md Jewel Rana (Daudkandi-Chandina circle) said, "No exemption will be given to drug and drug traders as per the strict instructions of the district superintendent of police (SP) Farooq Ahmed sir. These drug traders are the worst enemies of the country. They want to weaken Bangladesh by destroying the youth. Bangladesh Police will never allow that to happen. Drives are on to nab others, who are involved in drug dealing."   After filing a case in this connection, the arrestees were sent to jail.
