A trial court here today convicted four
persons and sentenced them to life imprisonment each in the verdict of
killing bus driver Abdus Salam, 55, of Rajshahi University of Engineering and
Technology (RUET).
Judge of Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Anup Kumar found them guilty to
the murder charge and pronounced the verdict in presence all of them in the
court dock.
The convicts are: Sohel Rana, Nur Nabi Hossain Hridoy, Anwar Hossain
Saimon and Sabbir Ahmed.
Apart from this, two accused of the case identified as Foysal Ahmed Shifat
and Shimul alias Polash were under-aged. So, their trial is taking place in
the court of the prevention of women and child repression.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the accused in accomplice with
each other chopped Abdus Salam indiscriminately at RUET campus on April 24,
2018. He was immediately rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with
grievous injuries where the attending doctors declared them dead after a few
minutes of admission.
The tribunal examined recorded depositions of 25 prosecution witnesses and
other relevant evidence before handing over the verdict.
