Talha Bin Shams
Talha Bin Shams is a talented artist. He graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Dhaka, where he studied painting and graphics. He has been living in Poland for over a year and is continuing his studies at the Institute of Cultural Sciences at the Master's degree program "Intercultural Communication in Education and the Workplace" at UMCS. He is interested in the Orient and contemporary culture. Talha Bin Shams deals with painting, drawing and graphics, and designs clothes. He has presented his work at several art exhibitions, both in Bangladesh and in Poland.
Born in Saidpur town in the northern part of the country, Talha Bin Shams completed his bachelor's from UODA in Dhanmondi and majored in painting and graphic design. Then he pursued his first postgraduate study in 'social science' at the University of Dhaka. Later he worked as a school teacher in Dhaka for Scholastica senior campus Uttora and few other schools in Dhaka. I taught art and design, social studies, and the English language.
First art exhibition in Poland
His first art exhibition in Poland took place on December 18th' 2020, entitled "The Tales of Bangladesh" from the RESURSA OBYWATELSKA, Radom in Poland. This is one of the national Polish cultural centers in Poland. Due to the covid-19 lockdowns, first art exhibition was online. He loves working with folk forms such as very own traditional folk motifs and designs, Gajir pot, Pot Chitra, Nokhsi Katha folk art forms, etc. "The kind of attention from the Poles I received was completely unexpected" Talha said.
Second Art Exhibition:
In June 29th of 2021 Second virtual exhibition entitled "The tales of Bangladesh-2" took place at the Institute of Cultural Studies of UMCS (Maria Curie-Sklodowska University). The deputy head of this institute Dr. Magdalena Grabias inaugurated the event, where he portrayed country's folk culture, folk art forms once again.
Third exhibition:
The opening ceremony of 3rd exhibition took place in the presence of his friends, and professors of Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Sk?odowskiej w Lublinie and other honorable guests, with title "Kobiety Bengalu" - wernisa? wystawy Talhy Bin Shamsa (in Polish), "Women of Bengal" (in English).
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Poland, Mrs. Sultana Laila Hossain & 'The Deputy Head' of The Institute of Cultural Studies, UMCS, Dr. Magdalena Grabias, at the Hotel Spichlerz in kazimierz Dolny, Poland, on the 27th of August, 2021. And the exhibition will last until the end of September. The "Culture for Tolerance Foundation" and the "Hotel Spichlerz '' are the two main organizers of this third exhibition. "I tried to portray our Bangladeshi women, mostly our rural women through our folk art forms, Nokhsi Katha art forms, etc." Talha said.
