Engr Azharul Islam appointed new MD of WZPDCL

 
Professor Engineer Md Azharul Islam has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (WZPDCL) on Sunday. Ministry of Power, Fuel and Mineral Resources and the board of directors (WZPDCL) have appointed him as the Managing Director (MD) of WZPDCL. He submitted his joining letter on September 21 to Selim Abed, Chairman and Additional Secretary (Coordination), WZPDCL, Ministry of Power, Fuel and Mineral Resources and Additional Acting Managing Director Ratan Kumar Debnath. Engineer Md Azharul Islam was greeted with flowers on Sunday after arriving in Khulna's WZPDCL office. Earlier, he paid homage at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj. He started his career as Assistant Engineer and Sub-Divisional Engineer from 1983 to 2003 after completing Graduation from BUET. He served as the Executive Director (P&D) of Coal Power Generation Company from 2020 to 2021. Engr Md Azharul Islam obtained his BSc Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in 1972. He passed HSC from Dhaka College Dhaka in 1977 and SSC from Bera BB High School, Bera Pabna in 1975. He was born in Sathia, Pabna district to an aristocratic Muslim family.
