"It is indeed a very gloomy day for us as we have to say goodbye to one of our best friends the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Mr. Manmohan Parkash. Bangladeshi citizens are indebted to his family as his valiant father fought for the cause of independence of Bangladesh as a member of Indian Air force and now he made us indebted through his four years of outstanding commitment and services towards the development journey of Bangladesh." Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said this while speaking as the chief guest at the farewell of Mr. Manmohan Parkash. Senior Secretary, Finance Division, Mr. Abdur Rouf Talukder; Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ms. Fatima Yasmin and senior officials of the Bangladesh government and ADB were present at the ceremony.
AHM Mustafa Kamal stated that ADB is one of the most vital development partners of Bangladesh.
The Finance Minister further said "I must acknowledge that Mr. Manmohan's intelligence and insightful thoughts on the concurrent global development issues were really amazing. Thank to him for the support and goodwill he has shown over the years. During his tenure the relationship between Bangladesh and ADB has reached to a new height. He is physically leaving us but virtually will always eternally stay with us as he touched our hearts and minds."
On the other hand, welcoming the designate Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Edimon Ginting as a new friend, the Finance Minister said, "Edimon Ginting is a new member of our team. I want to assure him that he will get all kinds of cooperation from us. And we hope that he too will become our true friend by involving himself in the development journey of Bangladesh."
