AL wins 8 chairmen posts, independent 3 in Kapasia UP elections

 
Awami League (AL) backed candidates won 8 chairman posts and independent 3 in the union parishad polls of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur on Thursday.
The elected Awami League backed chairmen are Md Anowar Parvez in Singhasree union parishad, Md Shafiqul Hakim Mollah in Rayed union, MA Jalil in Dhok union, Md Harun-Or-Rashid in Ghagtia union, Advocate Abdul Malek Bhuiyan in Sonmania union, Md Mahbubul Alam Moral in Korihata union, Md Ayubur Rahman Sikder in Torgaon union and Shakhawat Hossain Prodhan in Kapasia union.

The three independent candidates elected for the chairman posts are SM Atauzzaman Bablu in Barishab union parishad, Iqbal Mahmud Khan in Chandpur union and MA Wahab Khan Khoka in Durgapur union.

The election was held on Thursday as a part of second phase UP polls across the country. While declaring the results, Upazila Election Officer Md Abul Bashar said, the election has been completed in 123 centers from 8am to 4pm in a peaceful environment. A total of 44 candidates have contested for the post of chairman, 401 for member and 110 for the post of reserved member in 11 unions.
