AL expels Gazipur Mayor Jahangir

The Awami League has expelled its Gazipur metropolitan unit general secretary and city mayor Jahangir Alam for ever  from his position in the party for his derogatory remarks on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the number of martyrs in the 1971 Liberation War.

The decision was taken on Friday evening at a meeting of the party's Central Working Committee at Ganabhaban with AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. Meeting sources said, Jahangir's primary membership of Awami League has also been suspended while directives have been given to take legal action against him.
