Comprehensive training service on PPP inaugurated
 
The Public Private Partnership held the Inaugural Ceremony of 'Comprehensive Training Service on Public Private Partnership' on Tuesday.  The Public Private Partnership Authority has taken the initiative to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman. If Bangladesh is to materialize Bangabandhu's dream of a 'Sonar Bangla' then a modern, vibrant with inclusive economic and social growth is essential. Well-structured PPP Infrastructure projects can play a significant role in accelerating the economic and social development of a country.

The government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, has increased its investment on building capacity of institutions and human resources that serve as the lever for economic growth and social development. The capacity building of government officials, the private sector and other development actors is critical in the long-term success of PPPs.

The Public Private Partnership Authority has undertaken this comprehensive training for PPP Capacity Building towards development of efficient human resources for implementing PPP projects.  Many government officials from various ministries attended the inaugural ceremony followed by an interactive workshop. The training consortium of SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and Grant Thorton was selected to provide a 18 month training of government officials and other actors. The Inaugural ceremony was addressed by Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The guest of honor was Vikram Doraiswami, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh. Souren Mukhopadhyay, Deputy CEO, SREI also spoke on the occasion as special guest. Mokammel Hossain, Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and ABM Ullah Nuri, the Chairman of Rajuk also graced the inauguration ceremony.   

Sultana Afroz, Secretary and CEO of PPP Authority highlighted the achievements of PPP Authority and how PPP can bring together the expertise and resources of the public and the private sectors. She envisions that the continued political support from the top and the right training of people and institutions on PPP will accelerate the economic growth of Bangladesh.
