Mohammedan, Sheikh Russel KC split point in BPL An action between Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd. and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd during the first round of TVS Bangladesh Premier League Football held on Saturday at Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Gazipur. -BFF

Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra split point when their match ended in a 1-1 goal draw in the first round of TVS Bangladesh Premier League Football held on Saturday at Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Gazipur.

In the day's match, Malian striker Souleymane Diabate scored for Mohammedan SC while Kyrgyzstan defender Aizar Akmatov netted for Sheikh Russel KC who trailed the first half by 0-1 goal. Souleymane Diabate put Mohammedan Sporting Club ahead in the 23rd minute. The black and white Motijheel outfit kept their tent unhurt and went to the breather back with a 1-0 lead.

After resumption, Sheikh Russel were desperately trying to stage a fight back in the match and their  best moment came in the 84th minute when  Aizar Akmatov restored the parity, snatching  one point from Mohammedan. Mohammedan  however tried to take the lead, but could convert  any in the remaining proceeding.

Mohammedan's defender Masud Rana was shown a direct red card by the referee Saymoon Sany for his unsporting behavior in the match while Sheikh Russel's forward Saad Uddin was given the marching order following his double yellow cards. Sheikh Russel KC will play their next match against Chittagong Abahani Limited on Wednesday (Feb 9) at the same venue while Mohammedan will face Swadhinata Krira Sangha on Thursday (Feb 10) at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
