Irregularities, corruption and mismanagement in zoos won't be tolerated, Fisheries and livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said. He voiced the note of warning while visiting the National Zoo in the capital on Monday. SM Rezaul Karim said, "Zoo is an important institution for people's entertainment. We have already formulated a master plan to make zoos like Singapore or Dubai."
Two tiger cubs, Zebra, Giraffe cubs, African lion, Impala, wild Beast have died at the national zoo and another animal died at the Rangpur Zoo, Minister informed. 'We are investigating the viscera and post mortem report and two inquiry have already been finished. Any irresponsibility of anybody or non-competency and non-cooperation won't be tolerated in this connection."
Additional Secretary of the Ministry concerned SM Ferdous Alam, DG of Livestock Department Services Dr. Monjur Mohammad Shajada, Director of the National Zoo Dr. Abdul Latif and others high officials were also present at the time.
