Women participation in country's overall dev stressed

Speakers at a discussion underscored the participation of women in overall development process of the country in order to accelerate the empowerment of the women. "Equal importance should be given to boys as well as girls. We must make the path for women easy and smooth", they also said.

They made the comments while addressing a discussion meeting held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni auditorium in Gopalganj on Tuesday marking the International Women's Day. The theme for this year's International Women's Day is 'Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.'Organized by Gopalganj district administration and the Department of Women Affairs, the discussion meeting was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Eliasur Rahman.

Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana addressed the discussion as the chief guest while Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddique, Zila Awami League General Secretary Mahabub Ali Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Nazmun Nahar and Deputy Director of Gopalganj Department of Women Affairs Md Altaf Hossain were present as special guests. 

Among others, Zila Mohila Awami League General Secretary Nasima Khanam, Binapani Govt Girl's High School 10th grade student Lubaina Rubab Safa, Swarnokoli High School 10th grade student Labiba Islam also addressed at the program. Later, a pleasant cultural program was organized where local artists entertained the audiences.
