'Zone-based holding tax, utility rate to be fixed'

 
Holding taxes and utility rates will be fixed in the capital on the basis of zones, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam said.

He said this at the inauguration of automation activities of the revenue division at the hall room of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Wednesday.
Tajul Islam said, "Civic services will be brought under automation to remove the harassment. Traffic jam in Dhaka city is increasing day by day like as people and vehicles."

If it continues, the speed of vehicles in Dhaka city will be less than the people's walking speed within few years, he added.

Chaired by DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam, the program was also addressed by City Research Centre President Professor Nazrul Islam and FBCCI President Jashim Uddin.
