Nafees Bin Zafar, who glorified Bangladesh with an Oscar prize

An Oscar winning computer genius, Nafees Bin Zafar considers himself to be “somewhere in the middle”. He is a man of science and but also an artist who incorporates his calculative forte to feed the aesthetic-hungry Hollywood (technically speaking, international) audience with amazing graphics.A computer genius with a great artistic skill, one would think he would have a state-of-the-art personal website. But it looks like something done by an amateur. His personal website is not as impressive as his entry at IMDB.com.

From software engineer to principal engineer, his ability to stay in the middle of artisanship and science awarded him with an Oscar in 2008 for 'At the world's end' of Pirate of the Caribbean film series. Not many of Bangladeshi origin achieved such glory. He has worked for digital domain and at present he is working for Los Angeles based animation farm “DreamWorks” as principal engineer. DreamWorks animation is one of the best motion picture and animated film makers across the world.Nafees, grandson of the famous late Bangladeshi poet Golam Mostafa and nephew of the famous Bangladeshi artist Mostafa Monowar, is the first Bangladeshi to win an Oscar.

Shoeb Chowdhury, Chairman, Editorial Board of The Asian Age organized a reception for Nafees Bin Zafar in 2008.  At that time Shoeb Chowdhury was a key official of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS). The reception was accorded to Nafees Bin Zafar for glorifying Bangladesh on the global stage.
