A school for the children of Vedic community has been inaugurated in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla for the first time.
The school was set up at Viktola village in the upazila. Cumilla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Kamrul Hasan inaugurated the school as the chief guest on Wednesday (May 11) at 1 pm. Addressing the occasion, DC Kamrul Hasan said, "Schools have been set up in Daudkandi's Viktola, Golaperchar area and in Meghna upazila for the backward Vedic community as part of 'Mujib Barsho' celebrations. This is the first school in the district for the children of the Vedic community at Viktala in Daudkandi upazila. We hope that through the establishment of this school, the backward Vedic community in the district will be able to help in spreading the light of education among the children."
Daudkandi Upazila Chairman Major (retd) Mohammad Ali Sumon said, "Children of Vedic community will have the opportunity to study along with local children in the newly constructed school at Viktola. Different types of toys will be available in the school to attract the attention of the Vedic community children to study." Among others, Daudkandi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Kamrul Islam Khan, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sukanta Saha and Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Tariqul Islam Nayon were present on the occasion.
