The construction work of the world-class Shoilajaranjan Cultural Center is in its last stage and this spectacular cultural center will be inaugurated on December 16 this year. Netrokona Public Works Executive Engineer Hasinur Rahman said, "The center will be opened on December 16 marking the National Victory Day."About 90 percent work of the center has been completed. Lift, electric items and sound system are being imported from German for the center. After installing these items, it is being expected that the cultural center will be opened, he said. To mention, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the center in November, 2018 which will cost Tk 39 crore under Public Works Department.
In the center, there are a mural, a three-storey academy building, a 310-seat multi-purpose conference hall, 81-square feet two-storey library. There are 4 classrooms, 2 office rooms, a dining room, a museum woman floor, green premises and a pond in the center. A museum with the items used by Shoilajaranjan Mazumder has also been established at the center.
Shoilajaranjan Mazumder, the prominent musician and a very close to Rabindranath Tagore, was the Principal of Sangeet Bhaban of Shanti Niketan in Kolkata. Shoilajaranjan Mazumder was born at Baha village at Mohanganj upazila in Netrokona. The cultural center named after Shoilajaranjan Mazumder is going to be established after 26 years of his death. The Minister of Cultural Affairs is supervising the center. It is mentionable that Sajjadul Hassan, Secretary at Prime Minister's Office took the initiative first to establish the Shoilajaranjan Mazumder Cultural Center.
