Germany will provide 33.50 million Euros grant for the project titled "Urban Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project (UCRIP) under Climate Change Adapted Urban Development (CCAUD) Program Phase- III". In this regard, grant agreements have been signed today on 15th November 2022 between the Government of Bangladesh and the Federal Republic of Germany. Ms. Sharifa Khan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ministry of Finance has signed the 'Grant Agreements' on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh and KfW Country Director, Mr. Michael Sumser signed the agreement on behalf of KfW Development Bank.
At the ceremony, Additional Secretary, ERD, Mr. Uttam Kumar Karmaker, Joint Secretary MoslemaNaznin, Deputy Secretary Shah Md. Habibul Hasan, Additional Chief Engineer LGED Mr. Md. Nurul Huda, Country Director, GIZ Bangladesh, Dr. Andreas Kuck, Project Director, UCRIP, LGED, Mr. Mohammad Nazmul Hasan Chowdhury, Director University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Engr. M. Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Sector Specialist, KfW, Ms. Deeba Farah Haque were also present.
In our developmental journey, Germany remains a most trusted friend and till today Germany has committed more than three billion euro as development assistance, and German support will continue to intensify in the days ahead and will cast a multiplier impact on our economy in alignment with our development priorities, Secretary ERD said. In the meeting, KfW Country Director, Michael Sumser, expressed his pleasure that KfW has a long-standing positive relationship with ERD, the LGRD Ministry, LGED and the local bodies.
