Bangabandhu Asian Central Zone men's and women's International Beach Volleyball Competition-2022 came to an end on Thursday in Cox's Bazar, the longest sea beach in the world.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal, NBP, NUP, NDC, AFWC, PSC attended as the chief guest and enjoyed the final game of the competition and later distributed prizes among the winning players.

Sri Lanka's Deepika-Saturika pair of Sri Lanka beat Nepal's Kamala-Kopila pair by 2-0 sets with 21-11, 21-11 points to win the women's title in the eight-nation tournament. The final match of the men's division between Sri Lanka and Maldives will be held on Friday morning on December 30 at the same venue.

Men's teams from seven countries Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan and Kyrgyzstan and women's teams from four countries Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Uzbekistan participated in this international tournament.

The Navy Chief expressed hope that Bangladesh Volleyball Federation will be able to organize more international competitions in the future with continuous and sincere efforts. Besides, he thanked to all the players for showing extraordinary skill and giving a competitive game.

He also said that the Volleyball Federation has recently organized 6 international volleyball competitions. In this sequence, the maiden Asian Senior Men's Zone Volleyball Championship in 2015, the Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men's Central Zone International Volleyball Championship in 2016, the Bangamata Asian Senior Women's Central Zone International Volleyball Championship in 2019 and the Bangabandhu Asian Senior Women's Central Zone International Volleyball Championship in 2021 and Bangmata Asian Central Zone Men's and Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup' was organized.
