Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) have included Nigerian-born forward Eleta Kingsley in their preliminary 27-man squad for the upcoming tri-nation Cup which will be held March 20 to 28.
Head Coach Javier Fernandez Cabrera on Thursday announced the 27-member team in a press conference with three new faces have been called up.
Apart from Kingsley, Dhaka Abahani's defender Alamgir, Fortiz's Mojibur Rahman Johnny and Muktijoddha Sangsad's goalkeeper Mehdi Hasan Shraban got call up while Aminur Rahman Sajeeb returned to the national team after a long break.
The 33-year-old Eleta was previously included in Bangladesh's preliminary 34-man squad for the SAFF Championship 2021 but finally was dropped due to eligibility issues as he did not receive clearance from FIFA.
Born in Ogbona, Nigeria, Eleta Kingsley began his professional career with Nigerian club Akwa United in 2009 and spent two seasons there. Since 2011, Kingsley has been plying his trade in Bangladesh. He has played for clubs Arambagh KS, Team BJMC and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC.
In 2021, the forward attained Bangladesh citizenship via naturalization and then joined Bangladeshi champions-elect Bashundhara Kings. While Kingsley is officially a Bangladeshi citizen now. Eleta Kingsley currently plays for Dhaka's traditional outfit Abahani Limited.
The upcoming tri-nation tournament involving Brunei and Seychelles, slated to kick off later this month in Sylhet.
