Cumilla's Daudkandi Upazila administration has decided to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla calendar, during the holy month of Ramadan by maintaining religious solemnity and following the instructions of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Marking the upcoming Pahela Baishakh and Bangla New Year-1430, a preparatory meeting was organized at the upazila administration auditorium on Tuesday (April 11) noon. Daudkandi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Mohinul Hasan presided over the preparatory meeting.
In the meeting, a decision was taken to celebrate Pahela Baishakh with religious solemnity during the holy month of Ramadan. According to the decision of the meeting, a Mongol Shobhajatra rally will start from Daudkandi Adarsha (Pilot) High School in the morning and will end at the upazila square after parading the pouro market.
Among others, Daudkandi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Alamgir Bhuiyan, upazila Awami League president Adv Ahsan Habib Chowdhury Lil Miah, upazila vice-chairman Tarikul Islam Nayon, Cumilla Uttar Zila Sramik League president Rakib Uddin Rakib, heroic freedom fighter, former commander Khorshed Alam, Sohrab Hossain, general secretary of upazila sports association Md Khorshed Alam Tiger along with officials of various departments of local administration and local journalists were present at the preparatory meeting.
