Bangladesh and India will launch a rail route between the two countries soon and will later connect Nepal in a bid to boost trade in the region.The cargo train service will start service this September through the route from Biral in Dinajpur of Bangladesh to Radhikapur in West Bengal of India, the India Railway sources said yesterday. The Indian authorities already carried out the feasibil;ity study and the experts hoped that it will establish a milestone in transport sector of the two nations.

Sources said the project will come on action according to the SAARC treaty which will contribute in the trade sector of both countries.After realization of the project, India could export salt, onion, ginger, cycle parts and other goods to Bangladesh. Several items also could be exported to India from Bangladesh.The authorities have some plans to extend the rail track to Nepal's Jogbani. They will also aid Nepal for rail communication development, Indian Railway office added.

The rail communication was active till April 1, 2005. Prior to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, the people could travel to Kolkata through Darjeeling from Bangladesh's Parbatipur.
