Holy Lab Hospital and Diagnostic Center in Brahmanbaria was fined Tk one lakh as a mobile court on Tuesday (August 1) found expired medicines at the operating theater and medical waste dumped open inside the hospital.
Faisal Mahumud, an assistant commissioner and executive magistrate of the district administration, who led the mobile court said, "Expired medicines were found at the operating theater and medical waste was seen dumped open inside the hospital. Besides, there was no arrangement of ventilation at general. The hospital has no skilled diploma nurses."
"For these reasons, the hospital has been fined Tk one lakh under section 53 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009," he concluded.
Medical Officer (Hospital & Clinic) Ashrafur Rahman Himel and District Drug Superintendent Md Shahjalal Bhuiyan were present, among others, during the raid.
