The eleventh death anniversary of death of former Gana Parishad member, freedom fighter and physician Akhlakul Hossain Ahmed will be observed in Mohanganj upazila of Netrakona on Monday.
Upazila Awami League and other associate organizations led by Sajjadul Hassan, ruling party lawmaker from Netrakona-4 constituency and member of Memorial Board of Trusties, paid homage by placing floral wreaths at his grave on the occasion.
Later, Dr Akhlakul Hossain Ahmed Memorial Trust organized a memorial meeting and doa mahfil at a community center located at Hospital Road in the upazila.
Abdul Haque, a local heroic freedom fighter, presided over the memorial meeting.
Speaking the program, Sajjadul Hassan MP, son of Dr Akhlakul Hossain Ahmed, said, "My father wasn't a big leader but he used to stand by country and its people."
Prof Golam Kabir, vice chancellor of Sheikh Hasina University, said, "Dr Akhlakul Hossain Ahmed worked for the welfare of people of Mohanganj."
"Dr Akhlakul Hossain Ahmed protested the brutal killing of Bangabandhu and his family members and tried to take revenge of the killings", the VC recalled.
Netrakona Zila Parishad Chairman Asit Sarkar Sajal, District Awami League PResidnet Adv Aminul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Shahed Parvez and Superintendent of Police Foyez Ahmed spoke on the occasion.
Among others, Mohanganj Municipality Mayor Latifur Rahman Ratan, Mohanganj Upazila Chairman Shahid Iqbal, Khaliajuri Upazila Chairman Golam Rabbani Jabbar, Barhatta Upazila AL President Khairul Kabir Khokon, Khaliajuri Upazila AL President Asit Boron Sarker, Madan Upazila AL President Abdul Quddus were present on the occasion.
