World Tourism Day celebrated in Pirojpur

 
The World Tourism Day was observed on Wednesday in Pirojpur with the theme for this year is "Tourism and Green Investments."
To mark the day, the district administration brought out a rally at circuit house premises followed by a discussion at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pirojpur.

Speakers at the meeting said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took the first step to develop the tourism industry by forming the Tourism Corporation in 1973. His competent daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken very pragmatic and timely steps to make the tourism industry attractive to tourists worldwide. To mention, a total of 4 projects are being implemented in Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Khulna and Bagerhat under Private Public Partnership (PPP) to set up international quality tourism facilities. If these projects are implemented, the stakeholders are hoping that the flow of domestic and foreign tourists will increase.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Madhabdi Roy presided over the meeting while Additional Deputy Commissioner (ICT and Education) Md Selim Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police M A Mukit, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ahmed Sabbir Sazzad, senior journalist and heroic freedom fighter Goutam Chowdhury, along with other public representatives, social elites, political leaders, officers and employees from various government and non-government offices were present at the program.
