Tornado sweeps through Sarail causing damage

 
A tornado on Friday swept through parts of Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district, causing damage to 15-20 homes.

Hundreds of trees were uprooted and tin-roofs were blown away in Meratoli village under Shahbazpur union of the upazila due to the storm which was originated at Sadar upazila's Majlishpur village. Some villages of Sadar upazila were also hit by the violent storm.

Electric lines were disrupted due to the tornado triggering power outage in the upazila.  Umme Fatema Nazma Begum (Sheuly Azad), a ruling Awami League lawmaker reserved for women, visited areas lashed by the tornado. She distributed cash money and sarees to the victims.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sarwar Uddin said, "We have identified 15 families affected by the tornado and allocated 30 kg rice each for them. We will also provide financial aid and tins among them."
