BSEC observes world investor week-2023
 
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) observed the 'World Investor Week-2023' from October 2 to 12 to raise awareness among the investors.

BSEC Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, inaugurated the program at the BSEC headquarters in the capital on Monday. The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) launched the programme, and the BSEC, along with the capital market stakeholders, observe to stress the importance of investors' knowledge about the capital market and their protection.The BSEC is a member country of the association of international capital market regulators, namely IOSCO.

The international organisation member countries observe the week to raise awareness among investors and promote their investment education.At the event, the BSEC Chairman said that the investment is now very important for Bangladesh. There are many areas of investment in our country now.

"There is an opportunity to accelerate development in all fields of agriculture, health, and technology through investment. For that, we needed country branding. We have tried to do this by doing road shows in different countries," he said.Although it is not the responsibility of BSEC, we have done it in the interest of the country. Many responses have already been received. After the upcoming national elections, many big investments will come into the country. Many foreign investors have already shown interest in investing here.

Shibli also said Salman F. Rahman, private industry and investment advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has also received a proposal for several large foreign investments. The benefits of country-banding will come only after the elections.

At the event, the BSEC Chairman drew the attention of foreign negative forces and said, "My country, who are you snoring?" We do not say anything about your country. Why do you come to guide us on what to do and not to do?He said, We are moving forward; the country is moving forward. If the country moves forward, the evil forces will notice, yet we must move on.

Shibli also said that during Invest Week, we have to believe that we have to be smarter to move our country forward. The prime minister always says to be smart. As in every business, investment risks are increased and cannot be avoided without being smart.

The theme of the week Is"Sustainable Practice and Untapped Investment Opportunities", according to a BSEC statement.BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam inaugurated the 'Investor Week-2023' at a programmeat the BSEC Multipurpose Hall while Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah, Secretary of Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance, was present as special guest. BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam presided over the event.On the day, BSEC hold a seminar titled 'Investors Resilience'.

On October 6, the Association of Asset Management Companies and Mutual Funds (AAMCMF) organised a seminar titled 'Role of Technology & ESG Analysis in Sustainable Financing' at the conference hall at Parjatan Bhaban, Agargaon.On the same day, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)  organise a virtual seminar titled 'Sustainable Finance & Investor Resilience'.On October 10, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) hold a virtual seminar on 'Use of Fin Tech for Investor Resilience'.On October 11, three seminars held. The Venture Capital & Private Equity Association of Bangladesh organise a seminar on 'Building a vibrant start-up ecosystem' and Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM) and Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) organise another seminar titled 'Financial Education and Investors Resilience'.
