Coast guard seizes Indian goods worth Tk 6cr in N'ganj
 
Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized Indian goods worth Tk 6 crore from an area adjacent to Kanchpur bridge in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj early hours on Saturday.

The seized goods include 2,877 pieces of sarees, 1,008 pieces of body lotion and 4,500 pieces of sunrise cream.

Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taki, media officer at the coast guard headquarters, confirmed the matter yesterday noon.

He said, "Acting on a tip-off, a team of BCG Station Pagla led by Station Commander Ruhan Monjur conducted a raid at Kanchpur bridge area in Siddhirganj. During the operation, a Dhaka bout truck loaded with suspicious stones was signaled to stop by the coast guard members but the truck ignored the signal and drove away. Later, the coast guard personnel chased the truck and managed to seized."

People in the truck managed to flee away from the scene. Later, the truck was searched and a total of 2,877 pieces of sarees, 1,008 pieces of body lotion and 4,500 pieces of sunrise cream were seized. The estimated value of the seized goods is Tk 6 crore, he said.

The seized goods have been handed over to Siddhirganj police station for taking further legal actions, the media officer added.
