Pandya set to join Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans

Pandya set to join Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans

Hardik Pandya is set to make a move from the Gujarat Titans and reunite with his first Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the transfer involves an all-cash deal, with Mumbai Indians paying INR 15 crore (approximately $1.8 million) as Hardik's salary and an undisclosed transfer fee to the Titans. Notably, Hardik could potentially earn up to 50% of the transfer fee.

If the trade is finalized, it would likely be the most significant player trade in IPL history. However, as of now, neither franchise has made any public statement regarding the trade.

One notable challenge for Mumbai is ensuring they have a sufficient purse for the trade. Following the last auction, Mumbai had only INR 0.05 crore (approximately $6,000) remaining.

Franchises are set to receive an additional INR 5 crore (approximately $600,000) in their purse for the upcoming auction. This indicates that Mumbai may need to release one or more players to complete the Hardik Pandya trade. The retention deadline for players is November 26 at 4 pm IST.

In the IPL's debut season of 2022, Hardik Pandya captained the Gujarat Titans to the title, securing a remarkable victory in their inaugural campaign. Notably, Hardik was named the Player of the Match in the final against the Rajasthan Royals.

Building on this success, the Titans continued their impressive performance in the 2023 season, reaching the IPL final for the second consecutive year. However, they narrowly missed claiming the title, finishing as runners-up to the Chennai Super Kings.
