Obaidul Quader's assets increased by 13 times

 
Awami League General Secretary and Roads, Transports and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader's profession was writing and journalism. However, his profession has now been changed in pen and paper which shows he is a private official at present. His immovable wealth has increased by 13 times. Obaidul Quader's wife's immovable assets have increased by over 2 times.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader earns Tk 425,300 a year by writing books. As an MP and Minister, the annual salary and allowance income is Tk 12 lakh 60 thousand. He has 80,000 in cash and his wife has 70,000 in cash.

He mentioned this information in the affidavit filed for participation as a candidate of Awami League in Noakhali-5 constituency in the 12th parliamentary elections.

According to the affidavit sources, this Awami League leader earns money by writing books and newspapers in addition to the salary and allowance received as an MP and minister. Annual income for apartment rent is Tk 14 lakh 24 thousand 924. In the same sector, his wife's income is three lakh 96 thousand 966 taka. It is also known that Obaidul Quader has a savings certificate of Tk 6,97,284 in his own name and Tk 4,80,922 in the name of his wife. Although there is no annual income in his own business sector, his wife earns 86 thousand 727 taka annually from business. Besides, Obaidul Quader's wife earns two lakh 58 thousand 900 taka per year from legal profession.

According to the affidavit, Obaidul Quader has 75 lakh 63 thousand 605 taka in the bank. And 51 lakh 97 thousand 649 taka is deposited in the name of the wife. Obaidul Quader has an investment of 1 crore 49 lakh 46 thousand 293 taka and his wife has an investment of 73 lakh 62 thousand 815 taka in various savings certificates and fixed deposits including postal, savings certificates.

Quader owns a car worth Tk 77 lakh 50 thousand, gold ornaments worth Tk 1 lakh 50 thousand, electronics worth Tk 9 lakh 20 thousand and furniture worth Tk 8 lakh 75 thousand. In the name of the wife, there are gold ornaments worth Tk 1 lakh, T&T and mobile and furniture worth Tk 1 lakh.
