Folk art, crafts fair going on in Sonargaon

Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Foundation lifted the curtain on a month-long folk art and crafts fair and festival in Sonargaon, Narayanganj on Tuesday.
The fair, titled Lokkarushilpa Mela o Lokoj Utsab – 2024, is featuring crafts fair and folk art performances, including, puppet show, baul song, pala song, Lalon song and others.

Lawmaker for Narayanganj-3 constituency Abdullah Al Kaisar was present as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony and inaugurated the event.
Cultural affairs ministry, planning and development, additional secretary Imrul Chowdhury, Dhaka region tourist police super Md Naimul Haque, Narayanganj district additional deputy commissioner Md Nurunnabi, additional police super Shaik Billal Hossain and others spoke at the inaugural ceremony, which was presided over by cultural affairs secretary Khalil Ahmed.

Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Foundation director Kazi Nurul Islam delivered welcome speech at the inaugural ceremony.
Welcoming the initiative of the Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Foundation, Khalil Ahmed said that the foundation was working relentlessly for the development of folk traditions and arts.

‘The month-long folk craft fair and folk festival gives artisans from across the country an opportunity to display and sell their products,’ said Khalil Ahmed.
‘This folk craft fair and folk festival will play a great role in creating new entrepreneurs and promoting crafts,’ added Khalil Ahmed.

Abdullah Al Kaisar said that Sonargaon had become one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the country.

The event will end on February 14.
