Hasina Momtaz laid to eternal rest

Hasina Momtaz was a popular singer during her time. Many of her songs won people’s hearts. Hasina Momtaz’s husband late Rafiqul Islam was a reputed banker who was Managing Director of National Bank Limited.

Hasina Momtaz’s songs inspired freedom fighters and patriotic masses during the Liberation War of 1971. Hasina Momtaz has left behind a glorious legacy with her unique musical career.

The then Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud conferred lifetime achievement award (Ajibon Sammanona Puroskar) to singer Hasina Momtaz on 1 April 2022. The award was given to Hasina Momtaz in recognition of her special contribution to the enrichment of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage through her songs.

Hasina Momtaz (79), mother of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam passed away on Sunday evening. Her Namaz-E-Janaza was held in Dhanmondi Mosque after Johr prayer which was attended by higher government officials, Dhaka University teachers and people from different professional backgrounds. Later on she was buried in the capital’s Azimpur Graveyard.
