Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard have seized 70,000 yaba pills from Jhawbon area under Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.

Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taki, media officer of coast guard headquarters, confirmed the matter on Saturday.

Based on a tip-off that a large consignment of yaba will enter Bangladesh via from Myanmar through Shahpuri Dwip under Teknaf police station, BCG Station Teknaf conducted a special operation at around 1:45am on Saturday. During the operation, when the movement of two men was found suspicious at Jhawbon area, coast guard members signalled them to stop. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, they ran away from the scene leaving a plastic sack. Later, BCG personnel searched the sack and recovered a total of 70,000 yaba pills from it.

The seized yaba tablets have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for taking further action, he said.
