A total of 554 students of various educational institutions across Bangladesh got internationally recognized certificates of Cambridge English.
The students got the certificates in a grand ceremony at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib auditorium of National Museum in Dhaka on Saturday (March 02, 2024).
Cambridge English and EduCan International jointly organized the program which was graced by Dhaka-10 MP Ferdous Ahmed as the chief guest. Dan Pasha, Trade and Investment Director of the British High Commission, Dhaka; Mahesh Srivastava, Regional Director of Cambridge International Education, South Asia; Regional Business Head of Cambridge English, South Asia, Manish Puri; Zunayed Ahmed, Director of and Exams Operation of British Council, Bangladesh and Shahin Reza, Managing Director of EduCan International, the examination center for Cambridge English in Bangladesh were present in the event.
Ferdous Ahmed MP said, “English is a very important language for international communication thus proficiency in English is essential for institutional, professional and business success in the international arena. The participation of skilled, smart citizens is essential in order to achieve the vision of smart Bangladesh by 2041.”
“A population skilled in education, interpersonal communication will take Bangladesh forward. He said that among today's certificated students, he sees the spirit of future leaders,” he added.
Dan Pasha said, there are historical ties between the people of Bangladesh and United Kingdom for cultural and educational exchange. United Kingdom is committed to work with Bangladesh in achieving their vision of becoming a middle income country for which international standard education can play an import role. “I am glad to see that Cambridge English and EduCan International are working together in contributing that vision.”
Manish Puri mentioned, Cambridge English which is a part of University of Cambridge, delivers Cambridge English qualifications through 2800 test centers and 50,000 preparation centers in over 130 countries worldwide.
Mahesh Srivastava, said, the demand of Cambridge International curriculum is increasing steadily across the world, including South Asian countries, especially in Bangladesh. We are very pleased that EduCan International continues to make a significant contribution to the education sector in Bangladesh by introducing the Cambridge English Curriculum for the students in Bangladesh.
Zunayed Ahmed said, the British Council in collaboration with Cambridge conducts various Cambridge exams such as O Level, A Level, IELTS, etc in Bangladesh.
Shahin Reza mentioned that EduCan International and Cambridge English are working together to improve the English skills of students in Bangladesh.
Awardees received their certificates from the distinguished. Students' success in the Cambridge English YLE, KET, PET, FCE and C1 Advanced levels is recognized through the awarding of certificates.
The teachers, students and parents expressed their great enthusiasm in receiving the certificate. In addition, preparation centres were issued with certificate of appreciation for their contribution to prepare students for Cambridge English exams.
