Many people are saying that in Dhaka cinema has become Eid-centric. Which is not very wrong. Because the surge of movie release starts around Eid. Which is happening this year too. Almost a dozen movies have already been announced for Eid festival release when more than one hundred and fifty halls will be open.
Actor Chanchal Chowdhury also joined this movie surge, and he took singer Xefer with him. But saying just singer would be wrong because now she is a full-fledged actress due to the film “Last Defenders of Monogamy.”
Directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, this film will not be available in theatres even on Eid. Because it is releasing on OTT platform Chorki. A glimpse of the film's release was unveiled on Saturday, March 23, with the release of a logo poster. But the date has not been clarified. However, Chanchal informed that, the film is coming on Eid-ul-Fitr.
Director Farooki said: "One of my favourite things is to cast a net inside people's minds and see what is caught there. Everything, big and small, trivial and important moves me. After a long time in ‘Monogamy’, I got a chance to explore some aspects of a male-female relationship.'’
After a snippet of this film was released, singer Xefer became the centre of discussion overnight. Talking about acting in a central role for the first time, she said: "I have appeared on screen as a musician before. But through the movie “Monogamy,” I appear on the screen as an actor for the first time. This is a very gratifying, yet challenging subject for me. Being able to act in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's film and having Chanchal Chowdhury as my co-star is a bit stressful and exciting at the same time.”
