Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) held its first convocation on 25 April 2024 (Thursday) at the University campus.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen presided over the ceremony on behalf of the President and BUHS Chancellor Mohammed Shahabuddin. Prof Dr Biswajit Chanda, Member of the University Grants Commission attended the program as special guest while Anthony Costello, Professor, Global Health and Sustainable Development of University College London was the convocation speaker, according to a press release.
A total of 600 students have been conferred upon Hons and Master Degrees. 7 of them have achieved chancellor and vice chancellor gold medals on their brilliant academic results. President, Prime Minister and Education Minister have issued separate messages and a special supplementary is published on the occasion. National Professor A K Azad Khan, Chairman, University's trustee board and President of its parent organization, Bangladesh Diabetic Somity (BADAS), and Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Faridul Alam also addressed in the function.
In the messages, President called upon the graduates to make the best use of their acquired knowledge in their professions. Prime Minister expressed that the graduates will bear the best testimony to the optimum potentialities with all adversities to build the Bangabandhu's visionary Bangladesh. Education Minister said, BUHS has enriched the country's education and health by providing need based education.
Around 500 distinguished guests among the higher dignitaries of the ministries and UGC, vice chancellors and principals attended the program.
