Ansar-VDP personnel deployed to ensure law and order during upazila polls

Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) have deployed 1 lakh 59 thousand 874 members of the force across the country to ensure law and order during the first phase of the upazila elections which are going to be held on 8 May 2024.

The above elections will be held in 10,605 polling centers in 141 upazilas under 59 districts.

13 or more members of Ansar-VDP have been discharging their duty in each polling center since 6 May 2024.

One Platoon Commander (PC) and two Assistant Platoon Commanders (APC) with arms will be in command of the Ansar-VDP personnel deployed in the above areas.

According to directives from the Election Commission, 1 lakh 52 thousand 786 Ansar-VDP members have been deployed to safeguard ballot boxes and to enforce law and order in the electoral zones.

The Ansar-VDP members will remain on duty for the above purpose up to 10 May 2024.

The Ansar-VDP members have been ordered to make sure that voters can smoothly cast their ballots without fear on the election day in a peaceful way.It may be added that 5 lakh 17 thousand 143 Ansar-VDP members were deployed all over Bangladesh during the 12th parliamentary election which was held on 7 January 2024.
