Harun Ar Rashid made new RAB DG
 
Additional Inspector General of Police Barrister Md Harun Ar Rashid has been appointed as the new director general (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the elite force of Bangladesh Police.

A gazette notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mahabub Rahman Sheikh of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was issued in this regard on Wednesday.

According to the notification, the order will come into effect on June 5. Harun or Rashid will replace the existing RAB DG M Khurshid Hossain.
According to another circular issued on Wednesday, the government has approved M Khurshid Hossain's post-retirement leave. He will be entitled to retirement and post-retirement leave benefits as per government rules.

Harun-Ar-Rashid started his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 15th BCS Police Cadre in 1995.
He became DIG of Mymensingh Range in December 2019 while serving as DIG Logistics at Police Headquarters.

During his career, Barrister Harun was under the direct supervision of police service modernization such as Police Clearance Certificate, Online GD, BD Police Helpline and CIMS.

While serving as DIG of Mymensingh Range, he received the Shuddhachar Award for the fiscal year 2019-2020. He received the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM).

Harun completed his MSc from the Department of Statistics, University of Dhaka in 1994 and LLB from University of London in 2009 and MBA from University of Dhaka in 2016.
