Murder case filed against Nazrul Islam Mazumder and Mahtabur Rahman

 
Exim Bank's former Chairman Nazrul Islam Mazumder and NRB Bank Chairman Mahtabur Rahman Nasir have been accused of a murder case filed with the capital's Jatrabari Police Station. The case was lodged on 28 August 2024. Sub Inspector Mirza Md. Badrul Hasan has been assigned to investigate the case.

The above case was filed by Anwar Hossain Gazi, elder brother of Imon Hossain Gazi (36) who was killed during demonstrations at Jatrabari area on 5 August 2024. As stated in the case, Imon Hossain Gazi was killed by indiscriminate gunshots fired at agitating students and protesters on the above date.

85 people were accused of the above murder in which ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy were also indicted. Nazrul Islam Mazumder, Mahtabur Rahman Nasir and Habibullah Dawn have been accused in the case too. Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md. Obaidur Rahman has told journalists that all the above accused have been named in the murder case for allegations of inducing the murder with direct and implicit provocations.
