Home and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that Barind Multipurpose Development Authority has played big roles in the agricultural advancement and enhanced production of crops in the concerned region. There is more space for further progress, Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said and he added that the development programs under this authority should be aimed at taking care of farmers' broader interest and welfare besides serving the betterment of the institution's officials and employees.
Lt. General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury made the above remarks on Sunday while exchanging views with farmers at Godagari upazila under Rajshahi district in an eco-park. Farmers informed the Adviser that there is a lack of cold storages for preserving potato seeds in Rajshahi. Lt. General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that the interim government is making unfrozen model houses for the preservation of potato seeds for small and medium farmers. He conveyed the information that the government has imported sophisticated quality potato seeds from Netherlands. The Adviser called upon farmers to make sure that the prices of potato seeds do not go up.
Lt. General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury instructed the officials of Barind Multipurpose Development Authority to run research works to solve local agricultural problems so that farmers can boost the cultivation of crops.
