Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC organized a campaign titled “Cyber Security Awareness.”
Mohammed Monirul Moula, managing director of the bank inaugurated the campaign as chief guest on Monday at Islami Bank Tower, according to a press release.
Md Omar Faruk Khan, Md Altaf Hossain and Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder, additional managing directors of the bank addressed the program as special guests.
Mohammad Rezaul Karim, executive vice president presided over the program while SM Mizanur Rahman, senior vice president of the bank addressed the welcome speech.
The head of wings and divisions and senior executives of the head office were present at the event.
The bank's heads of zones, branches, and sub-branch in-charges attended the function through a virtual platform.
In his keynote speech, Mohammed Monirul Moula emphasized that cyber security awareness is the most important thing in today’s Fintech world. He stressed that all bank units should play a strong role in raising cyber security awareness and providing technical services to customers.
He urged all concerned to implement the highest standard of cyber security management to detect and prevent all types of risks in banking operations including customer passwords, OTP, e-mail and web browsing.
He further clarified that bank never calls the customer and asks for OTP or password.
He warned that fraudsters often deceive customers by offering fake lotteries or account maintenance services and obtaining OTP sent to the customers’ phones.
He called on bank officials to educate customers and to raise awareness on these risks.
