Golam Mortoza, who has been granted the rank of Secretary for this role, is a prominent journalist currently serving as an editor at The Daily Star. Known for his in-depth analyses and editorial expertise, Mortoza brings a wealth of experience in news media, with a career spanning numerous years in Bangladesh's leading English-language newspaper. His appointment as Press Minister in Washington underscores the importance the Bangladeshi government places on diplomatic media engagement in the United States.
Akbar Hossain, currently a journalist with the BBC, has similarly been appointed to the Press Minister position in London. Hossain has made significant contributions as a broadcaster and reporter, particularly in covering issues related to South Asia for an international audience. His experience with the BBC is expected to enhance Bangladesh's image and visibility within the United Kingdom, engaging with the Bangladeshi diaspora and British media.
The Ministry of Information has forwarded the relevant appointment files to the Ministry of Public Administration for final processing.
