12 districts get new superintendents of police in shake-up

 
Amid the ongoing reshuffle in the police, the superintendents of 12 districts have been replaced.

The home ministry ordered the transfer on Wednesday, assigning new SPs to Chattogram, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dinajpur, Barishal, Rajshahi, Gazipur, Manikganj, Gaibandha, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, and Naogaon.

However, there has been no announcement regarding the transfers of the current officers.

SP of Police Headquarters Md Abu Saim has been posted to Rangpur district, Commandant of the In-service Training Center of Gaibandha Md Abu Sayem Prodhan has been transferred to Chattogram, SP of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Kazi Akhtar Ul Alam sent to Mymensingh, SP of Special Branch (SB) Md Zakir Hossain has been made SP of Dinajpur, SP of PBI Md Shafir Uddin sent to Barishal, SP of SB Farzana Islam sent to Rajshahi, SP of Police Headquarters Dr Chowdhury Md Jaber Sadek has been sent to Gazipur, Yeasmin Khatun of Anti Terrorism Unit has been made SP of Manikganj, SP of APBn Nishat Angela sent to Gaibandha, SP of Range DIG office Dhaka Md Aslam Shahajada has been sent to Habiganj, Ehteshamul Haque of PBI sent to Brahmanbaria and Mohammad Safiul Sarwar of SB of Dhaka has been posted in Naogaon district.

Following the fall of the Awami League government, a series of major reshuffles have taken place within the force, with several police superintendents being transferred in multiple phases.

On Nov 20, the interim government replaced former police chief Md Mainul Islam with Baharul Alam as the new inspector general of police, or IGP.

The recent changes in police leadership come a month after the new IGP took office.
