No culture is superior to other: Farooki

Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki on Wednesday said no culture is better than other.

“No culture is better or superior than the others. It’s just different than the others,” he said at the ICESCO (Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) conference for Cultural Ministers of the Islamic world held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, said a press release. The adviser emphasised on the importance of an active ICESCO which can help project the cultures of member states to the rest of the world in the best possible way.

He also called for a more engaging working relation among the member states which can help build a vibrant creative economy and cultural industry in each member countries.

At the beginning of his speech, Farooki paid deep respect to the brave Bangladeshis who made July uprising a reality.

The conference was inaugurated with a welcome speech by Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud followed by speeches from OIC Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha, UN Under Secretary General Miguel Angel Morantinos and others.

The conference will end on February 13.
