Sohel Islam who is supervising the Bangladesh Tigers camp at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, said Liton Das, has already started an intensive works to rectify his problems after being left out of the Champions Trophy squad.
Even though Liton did considerably well in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a T20 tournament, his ODI returns were worrisome, a fact that contributed in his axing from the national team. After the BPL, Liton joined Bangladesh Tigers camp, where he would make him ready again for the national team by solving his problems.
"We are talking about different things. Mainly we talked about how can we help to make the things smoother," Sohel Islam who was seen in long discussion with Liton during the Bangladesh Tigers training camp told the reporters.
"Liton is struggling in one-day format but his struggle is temporary. He was in nice rhythm before suffering from a slump," Sohel said adding that he thinks some adjustments will make Liton perfect again. "A cricketer naturally goes through some problems in some point of his career. You just need to sort out that problems and work accordingly. We have found that out and started working on that." The Bangladesh Tigers camp is a specialized coaching camp which included the players who are out of the national team alongside the promising players. It began on Sunday and will continue until February 25 with 21 cricketers.
Alongside Liton, Mominul Haque, Shamim Patwari, Afif Hossain and others were also started off season training.
The domestic cricket season will start with Dhaka Premier League (DPL) in the first week of March. Until then, the cricketers will continue the training under the supervision of local coaches, said BCB Cricket Operations Manager Shahriar Nafees.
"What the coaching staff wants from national player is very important. That's why communication is important," Sohel said.
"We are staying aligned for that. If any player goes from the Tigers camp to the national team, we want him to be a ready
product. Our program is planned basically by keeping the national team in mind."
The players will leave the camp once they start their training with the local clubs for the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), which starts in the first week of March.
Although there is no international or domestic activities at home right at this moment, the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium is buzzing with cricketers.
Women cricketers are practicing for the upcoming Premier League while the Under-19 team is training at the Academy Ground.
In the meantime, the male cricketers who are at the Tigers camp start training at Indoors.
