6 ARSA members arrested in N'ganj, placed on 10-day remand

A court in Narayanganj has granted a 10-day remand for six individuals, including a female member of the Myanmar-based rebel group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), in connection with two cases.  Senior Judicial Magistrate Moinuddin Kadir of Narayanganj issued the order on Tuesday.  The arrests were made on Monday night during a joint operation conducted by the police and the RAB-11 battalion.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement authorities raided a house in the Bhumi Palli residential area of Siddhirganj, where the suspects were allegedly holding a secret meeting. Authorities also recovered cash amounting to Tk 21.39 lakh during the operation.

Following the arrests, police presented the suspects before the court on Tuesday afternoon, requesting a 20-day remand for further questioning. After the hearing, the court granted a 10-day remand for the accused.  The arrested individuals have been identified as Ataullah Abu Ammar alias Jununi, son of late Maulvi Golam Sharif of Myanmar's Arakan state; Mostak Ahmed, 66, son of late Lal Mia of Arakan state; Moniruzzaman, 24, son of Atikul Islam from Ishwarganj in Mymensingh; Salimullah, 27, son of late Abdul Amin of Arakan state; his wife Asmaul Hosna, 23; and Hasan, 15, son of Nur Alam from Arakan state.
