Kamruzzaman Ronnie Honored with BABISAS Award 2024

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to film, drama, and theatre, acclaimed director Kamruzzaman Ronnie has been awarded the prestigious BABISAS Award 2024. The award ceremony, hosted by the Bangladesh Entertainment Journalists Association (BABISAS), took place at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation in a grand celebration of artistic excellence.

The event was graced by legendary actress Anwara Begum, who served as the chief guest and presented the awards. Tashiq Ahmed, Broadcast and Program Advisor of ATN Bangla, also attended as a special guest. The ceremony was presided over by Abul Hossain Mazumdar.

Kamruzzaman Ronnie, widely respected for his versatility and dedication to the performing arts, has been active since the early 2000s. A prominent theatre activist and founding member of the NagorikNattyangon Institute of Drama, Ronnie has directed numerous acclaimed theatre productions and television dramas, including 1971 SheiShob Dina theatrical film that received wide acclaim both nationally and internationally. Apart from directing, Ronnie has also contributed as an editor, singer, and associate director, with his works being featured in the USA, Australia, Portugal, and more.

Reflecting on the honor, Ronnie shared, "This award is a recognition not just of my journey, but of everyone who has worked with me in the realm of theatre and media. It inspires me to continue telling stories that matter."

Alongside Kamruzzaman Ronnie, the BABISAS 2023–2024 ceremony also celebrated several other distinguished figures. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to legendary actress Anwara Begum and renowned film personality Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Ujjal. Acclaimed singer FerdousAra was honored for her remarkable contributions to music. Special recognitions were also awarded to celebrated artists Rozina, Rubel, and Tashiq Ahmed. Among the other prominent recipients were D.A. Tayeb, Mamunur Rashid Imon, Nirab Hossain, Joy Chowdhury, Siam Ahmed, ShibaSanu, and ShabnamBubly.

Kamruzzaman Ronnie’s win at BABISAS 2024 stands as a testament to his profound influence and continued excellence in the cultural landscape of Bangladesh.
