Bangladesh should follow Singapore model to be corruption-free Says Home Adviser

Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) on Tuesday said Bangladesh should follow the 'Singapore model' to make the country corruption free.

"We should follow the Singapore model to make Bangladesh free from corruption," he said as non-residential ambassador of Singapore Derek Loh paid a courtesy call on the Home Minister at his Secretariat office. The Home Adviser said Singapore has become one of the most lucrative tourist spots in the world due its corruption-free and upgraded services, reports BSS.

Various issues that include law and order situation, security, manpower export and training of police and fire service personnel, returning of Bangladeshi criminals who took shelter, curbing human trafficking and protecting human rights in Singapore have prominently come as matters of discussion, said a press release of the Home Ministry.

 Jahangir said Singapore has become a role model for extending corruption free services. "So, Bangladesh has to follow Singapore to transform the country into a corruption free country," he said. The Home Adviser said Singapore is a developed and corruption-free country and it has made enviable progress in building infrastructure of information and technology.

The Home Adviser has sought cooperation from Singapore for introducing APIS (Advance Passenger Information System) at the third terminal in the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.

Describing Singapore as one of the close friends, Jahangir said huge numbers of Bangladeshis have been working in Singapore and they have been contributing to the overall development of the country.  He has sought cooperation from Singapore to bring back Bangladeshi criminals, who took shelter there (Singapore). "We want to try the criminals who took shelter in Singapore.
