Members of Bangladesh Railway Police have seized 210 litres of stolen diesel from Kodda railway bridge area in Akhaura of Brahmanbaria on Monday.
According to the Akhaura railway police, acting on tip-off, a railway police team conducted a special operation on the west side of the Kodda railway bridge under the Akhaura Railway Police Station. During the drive, it was observed that a freight container train was stopped with its front light off, despite the signal line being clear (green signal). Subsequently, as the operation team approached the train, the locomotive master (LM) and assistant LM noticed the police presence, turned on the front light of the engine, and quickly accelerated towards Dhaka.
Although the policemen signaled the train drivers to stop, they did not stop the train. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, other unknown individuals involved in the oil theft fled the scene, leaving behind two drums filled with approximately 210 liters of stolen diesel oil and other materials used in the oil theft.
A case alleging eight people has been filed with the police station in this regard. According to the police sources, drives are being conducted to nab the people involved in oil-theft.
