Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two individuals along with four locally made weapons and 3,000 Yaba pills from Patenga police station area in Chattogram city. They were arrested from estuary of Karnaphuli channel under Patenga Police Station area around 4AM on Tuesday.
The arrested individuals are Md Wahid Helal, 28 and Junaidul Islam Sami, 26, of Anwara upazila in Chattogram district. Lieutenant Commander Siam-Ul-Haque, media officer at coast guard headquarters, confirmed the matter on Tuesday noon.
He said, "Acting on a tip-off, a team of coast guard conducted a drive at estuary area of Karnaphuli channel under Patenga Police Station area and detained two individuals along with an engine-driven wooden boat." During the raid, four locally made weapons and 3,000 pieces of Yaba pills were recovered from their possession. The detainees were later detained handed over to Patenga Police Station for taking further action, the media officer added.
