Volunteers for environment sobserve Earth Day

Volunteers for environment, a youth-led green advocacy group, has organized an awareness event at Ramna Park in the capital to marks the World Earth Day.

The programme on Tuesday focused on critical environmental issues like plastic pollution, renewable energy, and the accelerating impacts of climate change.

VFE founder Shaikh Shahrukh Farhan has addressed the volunteers emphasizing the need for more engagement in climate change issue in the days to comes.

“Climate change is no longer a distant threat—it’s affecting lives today. It’s time for our generation to lead the way in restoring balance to nature,” he said.

Farhan added that plastic waste has infiltrated our rivers, forests, and even our food systems.

"We must adopt sustainable lifestyles, embrace clean energy, and reduce dependency on harmful materials," he said.

The programme welcomed around 30 volunteers from different age groups who participated in open discussions, awareness campaigns with placards, and interactive dialogues about environmental responsibility.

In a symbolic celebration, the team also cut a cake marking the founding anniversary of Volunteer for Environment. Participants shared their visions for a greener Bangladesh and expressed strong commitments to continue environmental activism.
